BAINBRIDGE

From Builder Grade to Beautiful

Aesthetically speaking, this house had only two things going for it - albeit two critical things - abundant natural light and a prime Center City location with views. Built in 2005, the grade of materials used were of poor quality and lacked any personality. The house had a gawky central staircase with "colonial" railing. We removed it and created a solid material half-wall rail giving a calmer, gallery-like, atmosphere. Our clients are art collectors. This gave more wall space.

Before, the powder room had opened directly to the living room/ fireplace, and there was a pantry in the kitchen that cut off light and flow. We reoriented the powder room to create a hallway and a built-in bar, dramatically increasing room circulation and allowing the light to move beautifully from the living room directly into the kitchen. Removing a storage tower from the roof opened the deck to a million-dollar view.
